Olathe Northwest Girl’s Basketball 2015 Recap


            The Lady Ravens broke a couple of records in their 2015 season, but they did not enjoy the way it ended with a 51-45 loss to Blue Valley in sub state, finishing with a 9-12 record. Their records includes most three pointers made in state with seventeen and most three pointers attempted with forty-three. The Lady Ravens are coached by Joel Branstrom (head coach), Evan Hoisington, Mark Robinson, and Chris Herrig.

Lady Ravens sets record in win

The Girl's basketball team set the record for the most three pointers made in a game with seventeen in their 99-56 win over Ulysses last Friday. Their seventeen threes accounted for more than half of their 99 points which is a season high for the Lady Ravens. The previous record was thirteen.
IMG_8615Sami Marks led the way with four three pointers made while Anne Marie Boeh and Ryley DeMaro each had three. Ashley Heller and Shaleia Jamison both had two and Hannah Stohr, Pete Sellon and Christen Curry all had one.

Ashley Heller Story



Ashley Heller, a senior on the girls basketball team, brings a lot of talent and leadership to the team. What you may not know about her is that she is dealing with Crohn's Disease everyday of her life.

Crohn's Disease is classified as an Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

A major aspect Heller has to treat Crohn's disease is with what she eats. She must maintain a good diet due to the reduced amount of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, as well as water, vitamins and minerals

Other treatments includes medication that treats your immune system to help the abnormal inflammatory response that is causing the problem. 

Heller and the girls basketball team face off against St. Teresa's Academy tomorrow night at 7 pm.
